Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk . Saturday 29 April 2023.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk have agreed terms for an undisputed heavyweight fight, the World Boxing Association has confirmed.

The two champions have been locked in negotiations for months over a bout which would crown the first unified heavyweight king since Lennox Lewis in 1999.

The WBA were set to order a fight between its defending champion Usyk and mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois unless an agreement was reached

with Fury. However, the governing body has now revealed an eleventh-hour deal was struck between Fury and Usyk after a series of exchanges on social media.

A statement on Twitter read: “WBA President Gilberto Mendoza received confirmation from Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury’s teams that there is an agreement to make the unification fight. They request time to work on the contracts to close the deal.”

Boxing fans are now closer than ever to seeing the highly anticipated event on April 29 at Wembley Stadium.
