Botham’s Ashes 40th Anniversary Dinners. – 15 July, 5 August, 19 August, 9 September 2021
They say it was one of, if not THE greatest Ashes series of all time, a collection of test matches between old rivals England and Australia that saw England bounce back from the jaws of defeat over and over again.
One man above all else stood out. Ian Botham performed sporting miracles not once but in three consecutive test matches to overturn almost impossible odds, ably abetted by a string of other household English cricketing names including the late great Bob Willis.
Forty years on The Sporting Club are proud to be staging four major dinners at four of the test grounds that played their part during an unforgettable summer of sport.
DATES & TIMINGS
Thursday 15th July - Headingley, Leeds
Thursday 5th August - Edgbaston, Birmingham
Thursday 19th August - Old Trafford, Manchester
Thursday 9th September - The Kia Oval, London
Timings for each dinner:
1845 - Drink’s reception
1930 - Dinner
2300 - Carriages
All the names will be present, from Sir Geoffrey Boycott to Graham Gooch, David Gower to Mike Gatting plus everyone else who played for England in these epic sporting encounters, not least the man himself – Lord Botham.
We will be fundraising for Ian's incredible Beefy’s Charity Foundation, and hope to add to his immense charitable work.
With a sumptuous three course dinner and wine, footage and numerous interviews with the stars, it promises to be a sensational series of unforgettable dinners across the summer.
All 4 dinners will be co-hosted by Sporting Club Owner, Ian Stafford and England cricket legend, David Gower.
